Buy a Ticket, Plant a Forest

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival has partnered with veritree to keep the outdoors great. During the month of April, $1 from every order will go towards rebuilding forests in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario. Forest restoration, when implemented appropriately, helps restore habitats and ecosystems, create jobs and income and is an effective nature-based solution to climate change.

From April 2-30, 2026, $1 from every order will go towards rebuilding forests in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario.

We’re proud to be supporting three veritree projects: post-wildfire restoration in British Columbia, reforesting degraded land with a smart forest in Alberta, and restoring biodiversity and community spirit at post-industrial landscapes in Ontario. veritree’s platform adds proof and transparency to tree planting, with triple-verification of planting sessions at their projects across the globe, and industry-leading on-the-ground tech – like bioacoustic sensors to monitor the return of wildlife.

Nature is one of our greatest allies when it comes to fighting climate change. Restoring nature, through tree planting, can benefit the planet, ecosystems, and local communities. Trees act as carbon sinks, i.e. they absorb and store carbon dioxide through photosynthesis, but these carbon sinks are only effective if the trees remain growing and on the ground for a long time – which is why veritree complete post-planting survivability checks. In addition, trees also help prevent soil erosion, provide habitat for animals, enhance biodiversity, and provide fuel and income for people and communities.

There are approximately 3 trillion trees on Earth, which is half as many as there were 12,000 years ago. It’s estimated that people cut down 15 billion trees each year, so preserving our existing forests is important, but we also need to continue to restore degraded land and ecosystems through planting the right trees in the right place and make sure the trees stay on the ground.

Trees act as carbon sinks, meaning they absorb and store carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. But these carbon sinks are only effective if the trees remain standing and alive over the long term, continuously locking carbon in their biomass rather than releasing it back into the atmosphere. You can see the carbon estimates from our trees on our veritree impact hub.

That depends on the project! In Alberta, we’re planting White and Black Spruce. In British Columbia, the main species are Douglas-Fir, Ponderosa Pine, and Hybrid Spruce. In Ontario, they’re mainly Tamarack, Ironwood, and Jack Pine. Our partner veritree works closely with their planting communities, to ensure that the right species are planted in the right regions, at the right times.

About the initiative

veritree is powering the global restorative economy. Its platform brings trust, traceability, and impact to nature-based solutions. Having reached over 177 million trees pledged, it connects forward-thinking companies with verified action. From mangroves and kelp to wildfire reforestation, veritree helps organizations move from intention to measurable environmental and social outcomes.
