In Halifax, festivals feel less like scheduled events and more like part of the city’s coastal heartbeat.
Set in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people, Halifax is shaped by salt air, storied streets, and a creative energy that spills naturally into its public spaces.
From harbourfront gatherings to neighbourhood performances and late-night music drifting through downtown, the city has a habit of turning ordinary days into something worth celebrating. Add in a strong arts community, legendary hospitality, and a landscape where the ocean is never far away, and Halifax becomes a place where culture and celebration are always in motion.

The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival brings a high-energy mix of live stand-up and outdoor celebration to Halifax, transforming parks and open-air spaces into shared stages where audiences gather to experience comedy in a uniquely coastal setting.
Rooted in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people, the festival reflects Halifax’s deep cultural foundations and its long-standing tradition of storytelling, music, and community connection. It’s a city where performance and place naturally intersect, especially in the warmer months when the harbourfront comes alive.
Alongside nationally recognized performers, the festival helps spotlight Atlantic Canadian talent and contributes to the region’s growing arts and events ecosystem—supporting the creative energy that continues to shape Halifax as one of the East Coast’s most dynamic cultural hubs.

We are committed to Reconciliation and respectfully acknowledge that our festival is situated on the Mi’kmaw territory, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. We honour their presence, stewardship and strength in this area since time immemorial. We are grateful to be a guest on this territory.
